Abstract

Half the world's population must search for water daily in order to survive. The water they might find will almost certainly be contaminated. Now, for the first time, there is an international effort to bring safe water to the entire world. The film examines how this goal is being achieved in a variety of countries. Small-technology community solutions to the problem are shown, like piped water supply in Tanzania through community participation, locally produced handpumps, wells, VIP-latrines and health education. Affordable solutions are sought and found, thanks to international cooperation.
