UWASNET documentary calls for safe water during COVID-19

Published on: 19/05/2020

Ugandan NGO network calls on the national government to prioritise access to safe water.

With support from its members, UWASNET has contributed to raising awareness to clean water to beat COVID-19. As part of its advocacy efforts, a number of initiatives have been planned and accomplished. They have, for example, developed a mini advocacy documentary which is being broadcast on NBSTV every Tuesday and Thursday till June 16th, 2020 during the 9pm prime news.

In this documentary, UWASNET calls on the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and the Uganda Parliament to prioritise access to safe water in national planning and development. This will contribute to better management of the current and future WASH related pandemics. This documentary was produced by UWASNET with support from its partners.

We call on everyone to share the video in their professional networks targeting Members of Parliament and the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development. A number of members and partners supported this initiative with both technical and financial support. In this regard, a big thank you goes to IRC Uganda, World Vision, Plan International, CIDI, Engineers without Borders, SNV, USAID, Whave Solutions, WaterAid Uganda, Viva Cua Agua who supported the development and airing of the mini-advocacy documentary.
