Abstract | A laboratory study was undertaken to assess the potential of potassium permanganate, a ceramic candle filter and a combination of both, as a simple household method for iron removal from water. The best results (91-99 per cent removal) were obtained when water mixed with potassium permanganate (for 5 minutes) was fed into the filter. The use of potassium permanganate also improved bacteria removal. |
