The Chair of the Africa Water Group (AWG) is shifting between EU Member States. During 2007 the group was chaired by France, who proposed a mapping exercise on EU aid to water sector development in Africa. Active Member States have been requested to submit detailed information on water sector policies in general and on their aid to Africa including present an future commitments broken down to the country level. This data collection is part of the Work Programme for the AWG covering the period 2007 – 2009. The results of the survey are expected to be completed during 2008 during which the AWG will be chaired by the UK. The survey is being prepared in cooperation with UN Water and the OECD. Results are expected to be ready for presentation at the CSD19 meeting in May 2008.
