Achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6 is only possible with strong national water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) systems that are led by governments. The partnership for WASH systems in Africa has been created to support African governments and their partners to build these systems.
In 2021, UNICEF, IRC, and Water For People launched a new partnership. Combining resources and experience from our organisations, it is initially focusing on 19 African countries to provide services that can include: capacity building in water, sanitation, and hygiene [WASH] systems strengthening and finance; on-demand technical assistance; knowledge management, documentation, and use; and advocacy for systems strengthening.
The partnership has a strong set of systems skills and tools that you can draw on – for free – to help you apply systems change to deliver SDG 6.
It's under this partnership that the WASH Systems Academy and the Agora platform are providing you with training courses in WASH systems strengthening and finance designed for government staff and partners which can be delivered face-to-face, online, or in a hybrid format.
The four courses selected for capacity building under the partnership are two introductory courses and two advanced courses.
All introduction and advanced courses are offered on UNICEF's Agora platform and IRC's WASH Systems Academy in English and French. These courses have been created in partnership with IRC, UNICEF, Water For People and SIWI.
