Achieving universal water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services is only possible with strong national WASH systems that are led by governments. The Partnership for WASH Systems in Africa has been created to support African governments in 19 priority countries and their partners to strengthen these systems.
It is under this partnership that the UNICEF Agora platform and the WASH Systems Academy of IRC are providing online courses in systems strengthening and finance for WASH designed for government staff and partners.
This animation (1.5 minutes) highlights the key issues related to WASH services and how systems strengthening can address these complex issues.
Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 is about 'ensuring the availability and sustainable management of WASH services for all'. Realising SDG 6 and thus improving standards of life for all is one of the main objectives of systems strengthening. These three new online courses are available for free and there to help you drive positive change as a systems leader:

This 16-hour course describes approaches to strengthening finance. It includes sessions on maximising and raising funds and using innovative means such as climate finance or blended finance.
