Meeting on supporting local CSOs to advocate for WASH under the ANAM initiative

5th Jul 2021

Special session to announce the winners of the ANAM Small Grant Call in April 2021.

Venue: Asutifi North District Assembly, Kenyasi| Date: July 05, 2021| Time: 13:00–15:00

Ensuring universal access to safe and affordable water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) for all by 2030 requires collective effort including support for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to effectively engage and empower citizens to deliver the targets across the entire cycle, leaving no one behind. Asutifi North District Assembly in collaboration with its partners prepared a 13-year WASH master plan, which seeks to promote universal access to safe water, basic sanitation, and hygiene services to about 84,420 people by the year 2030.

Within the WASH masterplan, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) have been identified to support WASH through allied action, advocacy, and engagement with the people to build popular support and transparency within the initiative. The ANAM Small Grant aims to support selected CSOs in the Asutifi North District with resources to carry out public education and sensitization in the District to complement ongoing efforts towards achieving the universal WASH coverage.

IRC Ghana in collaboration with the Asutifi North District Assembly/partners with the support of the Conrald N. Hilton Foundation launched the ANAM Small Grant Call in April 2021. The local CSOs responded with proposals which have been screened and assessed by an independent jury to determine the winners of the small grant. This session will officially announce the winners of the small grant call. The short meeting will welcome the visiting IRC senior leadership team, highlight the background and overview of the small grant and climax with the announcement of winners and feedback on the grant utilisation by the CSOs.
