Abstract | In Zambia, urban and rural access coverage for improved water supply and sanitation (WSS) has increased overall since 1990, but Zambia is still unlikely to meet its MDG targets in water and sanitation. Whereas the Government has developed progressive policies and strategies for meeting the MDG goals, robust commitments to sector policies, increased financing for water and sanitation infrastructure, and better coordination amongst stakeholders are critical to maintaining current coverage rates.
