Abstract | The Centre de Developpement des Energies Renouvelables (CDER) located in Marrakech is introducing small-scale rural-oriented renewable energy technologies. The Naima Wind Project is an energy-assist project to enhance an existing diesel-powered water supply system, thereby lowering costs and increasing the reliability of the system. Two wind turbines power multistage submersible pumps. In one case, the turbine (220 meters away from the pump) pumps water from a spring to a tank whose outlet feeds water systems 6-9 kilometers away. In the second, the turbine pumps water 4.5 km to a reservoir. Technical specifications and photographs are included in the report. |
