Abstract

This set of 14 training modules has been developed for a 6-8 week training workshop for Project Officers and Community Organizers in the planning, implementation and management of the Urban Basic Services (UBS) programme in India. The workshop is visualized as a three-phase activity. In phase I participants are introduced to the objectives and components of the UBS programme. They are taught programme planning and management, and participatory training methods. Phase II is reserved for extensive work in the field. The last phase aims to convert field experiences into learning experiences, and to practise skills related to motivation, promotion, and monitoring and evaluation. Each training module has a set of sessions and each session gives details regarding: contents; expected outcome; training materials required; training methodology. The training materials consist of discussion notes, role cards and briefs, materials for transparencies, and scripts of selected UNICEF slides and videos.
