Abstract | The key factors affecting domestic water consumption in the city of Calabar, Nigeria, were found to be: household size, income, number of taps in the housing unit, regularity in the flow of pipe-borne water, distance to the source of water, average price per litre of water, stage in family life cycle and the number of water supply sources. One of the conclusions was that doubling the price of domestic water would only result in a 5 percent decrease in consumption. This was attributed to the very low current flate rate charged by the Cross River State Water Corporation. |
