Abstract

It discusses opportunities and options from an environmental, economic, social and institutional/legal perspective. Laws and regulations introduced in the USA are presented as examples of how governments can encourage recycling. Data on solid waste management in Bangkok presented in the report include: the amount of solid waste generated and collected; the composition of solid waste; the percentage and quantity of waste material collected; prices of recycled materials; and a cost/benefit analysis of recyclable/reusable materials used by a number of Bangkok's factories.
