Abstract

Bacteriological water quality in remote communities is difficult to test because of distance to health laboratories and the need to collect samples under strict aseptic conditions and to bring the samples to the laboratory\AB within 24 hours. The objectives of this study were: a. to test the applicability and accuracy of various commercially available kits; b. to undertake a pilot training scheme in kit usage; c. produce a cost/benefit analysis,\AB comparing the current situation with projected scenario if kits were introduced; d. produce a draft training manual.
