Abstract

Participatory assessment study on the lessons learned from sanitation interventions in Vietnam from 1960 until now. It deals with communities where sanitation programs have had better than average outcomes and studies the factors associated with these outcomes. The study focuses on the demand for household latrines, how demand, coverage and access worked for the poor, what benefits matter most to users, hygiene awareness and change behaviour, and what helps ensure sustained sanitation services.
