| Abstract | This article presents case studies of roughing filter applications in Europe and developing countries (Sudan and Ethiopia). In Europe, roughing filters are used in combination with slow sand filters for artificial groundwater recharge, whereas in developing countries the filter combination is used in rural water treatment. The case studies were presented at an international workshop on "Roughing Filters for Water Treatment" held in Zurich, Switzerland in June 1992. |
