Abstract

The recommendations presented in this report are intended to help database designers who are confronted with the problem of designing a bibliographic database using the micro CDS/ISIS software and the international standard exchange format, Common Communication Format (CCF). The report covers: a. methodological aspects of bibliographic database design, including the aspects relating to the possibility of an international exchange of information; b. a very concise survey of the main features of CDS/ISIS software; c. a survey of the features of the standard exchange format CCF; d. an assessment of the correspondence of the CDS/ISIS software to CCF; and e. the design of a model database based on data elements defined by the CFF and the micro CDS/ISIS as the software tool.
