Abstract

This article examines the effect of the introduction of a rainwater cistern system in 16 Swiss sponsored housing units for University staff at the University of Dar es Salaam, which had been constructed to supplement the municipal supply. This paper discusses the results of a 15 month water quality surveillance which had been undertaken by the Water Resources and Engineering Section of the Department of Civil Engineering, following complaints from water consumers about the taste of water.
