Abstract

The sanitation programme of the Rada' Integrated Rural Development Project (RIRDP) includes in its scope household and other sanitary facilities, safe disposal of wastewater, and garbage disposal. Health education is also included, for illustration of the relationship between health, hygiene and disease prevention. Within the RIRDP project area, 90 villages have been supplied with water, which had as an after-effect increased amounts of wastewater, and new problems of inadequate drainage. A review of the RIRDP Sanitation Programme is outlined in the report, outlining extension activities, implementation, well improvement, wastewater disposal schemes and sanitary facilities for schools, health centres and mosques. The project will be implemented in a village participatory manner, and financial input from the village is expected.
