Abstract | Projects tend to look at stumbling blocks and barriers along the way as inconveniences that they need to quickly overcome, rather than opportunities to learn from that can increase the impact of the project. Documenting the realities of a project and of change processes can contribute to learning and lead to intervention adjustments for better results. Process documentation is a valuable tool in action research and learning alliances because it can trigger reflection and debate on what worked, and on what did not work, on blockages along the way and how were they overcome. It can also provide insights into how factors such as historical context, politics and stakeholder relations, or people’s beliefs and attitudes impact on the course and outcomes of an intervention.[authors abstract] |
