Abstract | IRC is supporting the development of a new system to monitor the commitments of African governments towards the realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for sanitation and hygiene. This paper describes how the lessons learned from monitoring the previous eThekwini commitments during 2008-2015 have been used to develop a new process and system to monitor the new SDG-related commitments as agreed in the 2015 N'gor declaration. The aim of the new monitoring process is to create reflective dialogue processes at country and subregional levels and strengthen mechanisms for accountability to citizens and political leaders informed by evidence. |
