Abstract

This case study examines how WaterAid-India stimulated demand for low-cost pour-flush latrines in rural areas through social marketing and hygiene promotion. Important elements in the approach were access to credit and a reliable supply of goods and services. Projects examples from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are given.
