Abstract | A study was carried out in rural Cambodia to find out what strategies would be most successful in promoting sanitation and hygiene in the country. Communities which had experienced sanitation interventions and where these interventions had been relatively more successful than average were consulted. The study has chapters dealing with the following questions: Who has access to sanitation?; What factors influenced demand for household toilets?; Was there a change in sanitation behavior?; What benefits matter most to users?; Was sanitation coverage linked to hygiene awareness and practices?; and What factors influence behavior change? The final chapter lists the lessons learned. |
