This case study of the Rwambu catchment project in Uganda is an example of best practice in catchment based water resources management. It demonstrates how landscape scale risk mapping and participatory approaches have helped to reduce water shortages, crop failures and waterborne diseases. The study reviews the root causes of water problems, the approaches and interventions used and the results after 3 years. The project was implemented by Joint Effort to Save the Environment (JESE), RAIN Foundation and Wetlands International under the umbrella of the Dutch WASH Alliance.
