Abstract

This book proposes a more holistic and human-centered approach to information management, defined by the authors as information ecology. It draws on the experiences of 48 firms, mainly from the USA, and 35 information managers. It discusses the information environment of organizations in chapters over information strategy, information politics, information behaviour and culture, information staff, information management processes, and information architecture. This is followed by a look at the overall organizational environment for information management: the business situation, technology investment, and physical arrangement. The book then discusses the external information environment before finally providing suggestions on how to implement information ecology principles.
