Abstract

Diatomaceous earth (DE) precoat filtration is a treatment technique suitable for small water systems because of the compact size, low operation and maintenance costs, ease of operation, and good turbidity removal. This article describes laboratory research on the removal of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and turbidity by DE precoat filters amended with powdered activated carbon or anionic resin.
