Abstract | The study evaluates the risk and extent of groundwater pollution in relation to on-site sanitation systems. The results indicate the presence of faecal coliform, bacteriophage and nitrate in almost all the samples analysed. The extensive use of unsewered disposal systems has been identified as the major source of pollutants. The hydrogeological condition was found to be unsuitable for the traditional methods of on-site sanitation |
