Abstract

This is the summary of an email discussion held on the WASH Asia Dgroups platform from the 9th of August 2011 till the 9th of September 2011. The discussion was moderated by SNV Asia knowledge network and IRC, and involves 120 WASH practitioners from different countries in Asia. The discussion aims to bring together examples and perspectives of practitioners from the field with perspectives from people working at international level. It also aims to reflect together on new ideas and best practices in sanitation and hygiene. It is not intended as a conclusive document on the subject. This is the third Dgroup discussion on rural sanitation and hygiene. The first discussed “Performance Monitoring of Sanitation and Hygiene Behaviour Change” and the second discussion was about “Rural Sanitation Supply Chains and Finance”. The discussions are linked to the learning component of the Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All programme in Nepal, Bhutan, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. This summary will be an input for the regional workshop on “Governance for Rural Sanitation and Hygiene” of the programme. [authors abstract]
