Abstract

Current developments related to the US Environmental Protection Agency's (USEPA's) drinking water regulations are reviewed in this article. It provides a rule-by-rule overview of each regulation that has been announced since the passage of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SWDA) amendments in 1986. Summary tables are provided of USEPA's schedule, standards and best available technology USEPA has designated for the regulated contaminants. Special attention is given to lead and copper, monitoring requirements, arsenic, sulfate, and groundwater disinfection.
