Abstract

The film deals with some of the problems that are facing the planet earth. First it deals with the increasing population growth. The second aspect which it deals with is the shortage of food, and the decline of arable land. There are also some alternatives given in order to help solve the problem of soil degradation, and to increase food production. A third aspect of the film relates to biodiversity. Several unique forms of life are disappearing. The fourth theme is renewable energy. Sustainable development depends on sustainable sources of energy such as solar energy. The fifth aspect of the film is the changing climate and the greenhouse effect. The sixth theme is the rapid urbanization which outstrips the ability to provide basic facilities such as water and sanitation. The final aspect covers industrial development and its impact on the environment.
