Abstract

The AMCOW AfricaSan Awards are dedicated to recognizing outstanding efforts and achievements in sanitation and hygiene in Africa which result in large-scale, sustainable behavior changes and tangible impacts. The awards are administered by the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW). AMCOW has established a Sanitation Task Force and appointed the Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) as its partner agency to coordinate follow-up of the eThikwini Declaration and AfricaSan Plan of Action, which seeks to place
sanitation and hygiene at the top of the development agenda in Africa. [authors abstract]
