| Abstract | This manual is intended for handpump caretakers, installation and maintenance crews, field engineers and implementation agencies. It contains a brief description of the simple, user-friendly, easy-to-maintain Afridev handpump which is suitable for installation on cased boreholes and dug wells with a static water level up to 45 meters. The manual only covers installation procedures on a borehole and not dug wells. Part I contains detailed step-by-step installation procedures starting with the necessary preparatory work for planning, selection of platform design and materials. Contains sketches and photographs for clarification. Part II discusses maintenance aspects, diagnosis of problems, preventive maintenance checks and repair of various parts. Includes annex describing list of required materials, tools, guidelines, and troubleshooting charts. |
