Abstract | Colorado Springs Utilities, USA, reengineered its Treatment Services Division to improve its competitiveness. The most significant change was a move from a hierarchical structure to a team-based organization. The utility also adopted workforce flexibility, skill-based compensation and unattended plant operation. All employees were involved in the change process. The optimization process resulted in annual savings of US$ 2 million, more productive and involved employees, and satisfied customers. |
