Former IRC Associate
Marco has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Land, Water and Environmental Management and has been working in WASH relief and development since the early 1990s. He is the founder of WASH for life, a global consortium of independent WASH consultants. He joined IRC in 2018 as Associate Expert, initially working on the Sustainable WASH Systems (SWS) programme in Ethiopia and Uganda.
Marco has worked with various donors and numerous INGOs, and is proficient in every aspect of the project cycle: from assessment, proposal development and implementation to monitoring and evaluation. He has worked in over thirty countries in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific. He also worked as project and contract manager with a Dutch Water Board, overseeing design and construction of large infrastructure works, such as waste water treatment plants, pumping stations and dikes. Marco is native Dutch, speaks fluent English and basic French.
