As Senior Project Manager I will lead efforts to develop related policy and procedures, advise on tools and software, develop project management skills of peers, and help improving project documentation.
I am not a stranger to IRC, having worked for here from 2013 to 2015 as Project Manager of WA-WASH (Burkina Faso), BRAC WASH (Bangladesh) and SMARTerWASH (Ghana). Then I joined the KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation in 2015 as Senior Portfolio Manager, responsible for the smooth implementation of large USAID-funded projects in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria and Vietnam.
I am an agricultural engineer (MSc) and did my training at Wageningen Agricultural University. After a period of consultancy work for WAU and IMAG, mainly focusing on the development of small motorised rice threshers, I spent three years in Zambia for IMAG and the Zambian Ministry of Agriculture. I was team leader of a Research & Development project focusing on the re-introduction of draught animals as primary power source in farming systems. During my next posting I worked for three years in Senegal for FAO on the reduction of post-harvest losses in rice production. This involved organising local manufacture of threshers, economical studies on the rice sector and support to women groups on setting up commercial rice milling.
I returned to the Netherlands in 1993 and worked for over 19 years as program coordinator for an anti-leprosy NGO, managing programmes and projects in Indonesia, India, Brazil, Nigeria, Nepal, Mozambique, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Kenya, The Gambia and Zambia.
