Abstract

The strategic master plan for Banfora (Burkina Faso) consists of two parts:

  • An inventory of the status around water and sanitation service provision which includes: 1) a profile of the municipality, 2) socio-economic factors influencing the WASH situation, 3) governance of WASH services, 4) provision of drinking water services, 5) provision of wastewater and excreta treatment services, 6) financing of drinking water, wastewater and excreta treatment, 7) strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for WASH services and 8) challenges and issues.
  • A communal strategy for universal access to drinking water, wastewater and excreta treatment services which addresses: 1) the foundations of the communal strategy, 2) the goals pursued by the municipality, 3) the main changes to be made, 4) the enabling factors, 5) the focus areas and 6) the implementation and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.
