Abstract

This video presents three case studies of communities in Colombia that are managing their drinking water supply systems. In each case, community members and leaders explain why and how they have chosen to improve their existing water supply. Furthermore attention is paid to various aspects of management of the communal water systems, like watershed protection monitoring of water quality and quantity, cost recovery and capacity building. The main message is to show that communities are capable of managing their own systems, although they might need occasional support in design and capacity building.
