World Water Day 2011 (20-22 March) was celebrated in Cape Town, South Africa. This year, the theme of World Water Day was ‘Water and Urbanisation’. Global participants were given the opportunity to discuss how to tackle urban water and sanitation challenges in Africa. IRC’s very own Dick de Jong and Petra Brussee, along with colleagues from AKVO and SIWI carried out interviews during the two day event, and shared them on their watercube.tv

Now in their third year, WaterCube.tv is a unique video project that documents people working to tackle the problems billions face getting access to clean water and proper sanitation around the world. WaterCube puts digital video into the hands of everyone - not a few TV people. The intent is to help those working in water to learn how to use online video to begin documenting their own work for global audiences. Follow the 2011 World Water Day interviews, including one with Petra Brussee discussing the IRC Southern Youth Programme online at www.watercube.tv
