Often, local institutions of communities play an important role in improving the WASH service delivery and standards of services. The Water Committee in Jankampet village, Andhra Pradesh (India) teaches a few new lessons on WASH governance, investments and service levels as this short film shows.

This Committee is deeply rooted in traditional practices of the village. The villagers are motivated to make contributions/ investments for creating and maintaining the necessary WASH facilities. The Water Committee takes the responsibility of making prudent decisions on investments and lives up to the expectations of communities on WASH service levels. The film has been produced by MV Rama Chandrudu, WASSAN, and gives a glimpse of this vibrant local institution.
