World Water Day 2011 is focusing international attention on the rapid growth of urban populations. The theme ‘Water for cities: responding to the urban challenge’ wants governments, communities, organisations and individuals to address the problems around urban water management.

IRC’s digital library offers a wide selection of documents looking at the different aspects of urban water management. A search in the digital library on urban areas and water supply management results in 31 documents.  Papers discussing topics such as micro-financing for peri-urban water providers, gender- and poor-inclusive community managed water and sanitation in urban areas, urban water conflicts and reporting on the compilation of information and data collecting of water and sanitation investments are to be found in this data-base.

Go to our WASH digital library to see the list of results. You can click on the individual links to read the abstracts and get access to the full documents.

More information on World Water Day and campaign materials are available on the special UN Water website dedicated to 22 March.

You can post your activities on World Water Day 2011 on our World Water Day website.
