Guy Hutton of the World Health Organization (WHO) stated in a discussion with IRC that "WASHcost has helped the sector realise the fundamental importance of life-cycle cost analysis in WASH planning. The methodologies and data sets generated by WASHcost and its partners will be vital to achieve financial sustainability”.

WHO recently published a report by Mr. Hutton entitled: "Global costs and benefits of drinking-water supply and sanitation interventions to reach the MDG target and universal coverage". The report provides a cost-benefit analysis of attaining universal water and sanitation coverage. Feedback and data were provided by the WASHCost team.
