“This was the second learning event held as part of the SNV Asia’s Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All Programme being implemented in Nepal, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam with support from AusAID.

The Dien Bien workshop aimed to enable the exchange of ideas and deepen participants' understanding of Rural Sanitation Supply Chains and Finance. Specifically it focused on the following topics:

  • Informed choice and sanitation technology options:
  • Rural sanitation value chain analysis: What does it look like in practice?
  • Entry points for rural sanitation business development:
  •  Pro-poor support mechanisms and subsidies

The workshop participants included government partners from the five countries as well as professionals from other development organizations including DFID, WaterSHED, IDE Vietnam, WSP in Indonesia, SNV and IRC.

In Vietnam it included representatives from SNV’s programme partners from CPM in Dien Bien, Women’s Union, IEC in Lao Cai and Lai Chau CERWASS. The next workshop on public governance will be held in Nepal by the end of November 2011.”
