The Sanitation Innovation Accelerator 2016 (SIA 2016) is a result of a collaboration among Ennovent, IRC and TARU Leading Edge which aims to identify, support and mentor innovations within the sanitation ecosystem in rural India over a period of twenty weeks.

Launched on March 21st 2016, the SIA 2016 has made headway into its first phase. Applications opened from March 22nd, 2016 - World Water Day and closed on April 31st 2016.

After completing the innovation sourcing process, IRC, TARU and Ennovent received an overwhelming response from innovators and entrepreneurs. Through a rigorous selection process, six innovators and entrepreneurs have been shortlisted for the SIA 16 cohort from more than 50 application submissions. The first batch of the accelerator is a step towards a much larger programme of providing an organised platform to identify, startup, finance and scale sanitation innovations in India.

With this, the platform is all set for the formal launch of Sanitation Innovation Accelerator 2016 (SIA'16) on the 25th May 2016 (afternoon) at Indian Habitat Center, New Delhi (see the agenda as download below). The Sanitation Innovation Accelerator 2016 Cohort will be introduced to mentors/experts/investors in the sector. A video conferencing session will be arranged for the mentors outside Delhi who are unable to attend the event physically. A brief overview of the challenge and the agenda for the Jury event are available in the downloads below. Before this a two day boot camp will be organized on the 23rd and 24th May to familiarize the participants with the objective of the programme as well as to better understand their innovations.

Keep a look out for more interesting updates on SIA 2016.
