Using the WASHCost methodology, SaniFaso developed a tailor-made tool—in the form of an Excel spreadsheet—for local technicians to collect and monitor life-cycle costs of sanitation and hygiene services in Burkina Faso. Costs and key hygiene practices are being surveyed to monitor SaniFaso interventions and to gather evidence on what’s working and what isn’t, and at what cost. SaniFaso’s study will serve as a useful test-bed and reflection process for applying the life-cycle costs approach on hygiene interventions.

SaniFaso is a 3 million Euros programme implemented by Eau-Vive, WaterAid Burkina Faso, Helvetas, the German International Cooperation agency, and IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre.
