IRC and the Ministry for Water, Hydraulic Infrastructure and Sanitation of Burkina Faso have decided in this international year of water cooperation to take action together to develop and promote sustainable WASH services in Burkina Faso. On October 1, 2013 they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen their collaboration and to put into practice their shared vision.

The Ministry for Water, Hydraulic Infrastructure and Sanitation of Burkina Faso represented by Dr. Mamounata Belem Ouedraogo, and IRC, represented in Burkina Faso by Mr. Hermann Juste Nansi, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on October 1, 2013 to strengthen their collaboration and to put into practice their shared vision. This vision is that every person living in Burkina Faso should enjoy their basic human rights for sustainable access to drinking water, hygiene and sanitation by 2030.
The Ministry has been mandated by the government of Burkina Faso to formulate and implement the public policies and strategies around the management of water resources and the service provision of drinking water and sanitation. IRC is a Dutch NGO working with political and financial decision makers and professionals in poor countries to help develop water, hygiene and sanitation (WASH) services, not only for a few years or for some people but for everyone forever.
IRC and the Ministry have decided in this international year of water cooperation to take action together to develop and promote sustainable WASH services in Burkina Faso. They particularly want to cooperate on:
Through this Memorandum the Ministry will benefit from technical support from IRC and the two partners will embark on projects together with financial assistance from either party or a third party.
