Asutifi North district for SDG 6

The SDG Action Awards is a special inter-agency initiative of the UN Secretary General. It recognises individuals, civil society organisations, subnational governments, foundations, networks, or private sector leaders, with the most innovative, impactful and transformative initiatives, that are building a global movement of action for the SDGs.

From the seven award categories, we particularly identified with the connector category. This aims to recognise teams or projects that demonstrate innovative or impactful ways to engage multiple stakeholders or build networks to generate the transformational change needed to make the SDGs a reality. By acting as a change hub in our focus countries and with our Theory of Change completely built around achieving SDG 6 by 2030, this is exactly what we aim to do.

We`re proud of all that has been achieved in our partner districts with as a key milestone, master plans that set out what local and national government, NGOs, private sector and traditional leaders need to do to make SDG 6 a reality for a district by 2030.

The Asutifi North District (Ghana) master plan was the first of its kind. The story of uniting for SDG 6 from the ground up in Ghana is one that aims to inspire change in the way the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector works within and beyond the country.
