IRC will co-convene a session at the Stockholm World Water Week on 27th of August 'A Sustainable Approach to Scaling up Safe Water'. This session will discuss what is needed for Household Water Treatment Systems to go to scale and intends to sketch out an agenda for change.

The session is organized as part of the Safe Water II initiative (2015-2018) which aims to increase access to safe water for household water treatment and storage systems, particularly for people at the economic base of the pyramid.

The Safe Water II initiative is led by Antenna in cooperation with six social enterprises selling household water treatment and storage systems in Cambodia, India, Guinea Conakry, Nepal and Pakistan. The objective of the Safe Water II initiative is to support these (and other) social enterprises in going to scale; expanding their markets more broadly and deeper into the Base of the economic Pyramid and; replicating their business models in other geographical areas. In Safe Water II, IRC is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the business models.

The six social enterprises supported by the Safe Water II initiative are providing sustainable and affordable solutions to the local community.

However, there are other challenges that await them in their strategy to go to scale and change the game. We are looking forward to having you on board to discuss the potential for scaling up safe water on a larger scale.
