Third Emergency Environmental Health Forum: Cholera Prevention and Control

3-4 May 2007, Delft, The Netherlands

Sponsors: Oxfam, IFRC, ICRC, IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre, IRC (International Rescue Committee), UNICEF, ACF, MSF

Background

The Emergency Environmental Health Forum (EEHF) is to focus on a better representation of the health/hygiene promotion and community mobilisation aspects of water and sanitation programmes, by bringing together a wider circle of agencies and participants to reflect the integral health component. It will be the third time the forum is held.

Objectives

• For practitioners of water, sanitation and hygiene promotion emergency programmes to share their learning and experience by means of presentations, discussions and workshops.

• Academics and agency staff to present new research and development projects within this sector in a view to better understand evidence based programming.

Theme

The aim of the Emergency Environmental Health Forum is to share field experiences and new research focusing mainly on decreasing the disease burden in emergencies. Rather than focusing on water and sanitation equipment the focus is on say diarrhoea reduction and what combined methods can be used to fulfil that objective. The theme of the 2007 forum is Cholera so any presentations dealing with prevention or controlling the spread of cholera are very welcome.

Programme

Forum Format: sessions, workshops and panel discussions.

Presentations are to be not longer than 15 minutes - and there will be 15 minutes questions afterwards, or the questions will be grouped into a session after a number of presentations on a similar theme.

Exhibition: participating organisations (maximum 15) will have an opportunity to display their latest information materials. There will be space available for a poster (1 m by 1.22 m) and a table (60 cm x 1.10 m) for publications, brochures etc.

Please include a request for exhibition space in the attached registration form.
