All #52Tuesdays in a year are important. So, we have chosen this Tuesday to update you on the most globally celebrated one coming up on the 3rd of December: #GivingTuesday.

Earlier we already wrote that we initiated the #GivingTuesdayNL movement in the Netherlands together with Geef.nl and Goed Nalaten. Read more in this article. But IRC is also preparing its own campaign.

In the days leading up to THE #GivingTuesday on 3rd December we will start sharing teasers from our campaign. We can already let you know that it will be about real people working on improving water, sanitation and hygiene systems in our partner districts. It will be focusing on improving the lives of pupils and patients. And it will be centered around sustainability.

Some fun things that we have coming up:

  • IRC Bryony Stentiford's pass notes. Starting on Tuesday the 19th - which coincides with another important event this year: World Toilet Day - Bryony will be using her creativity and humour to explain what #GivingTuesday is and what it is not. In the Netherlands and beyond.
  • IRC CEO, Patrick Moriarty will be blogging about charitable giving: the good and the not so good.
  • For the nerds amongst us we will do a deep dive into the global discourse on WASH in health care facilities and schools and share recent publications and related IRC work. We'll try and keep it accessible and #notjust4nerds too!

And then, on the 3rd of December, we will launch our 24 hour #GivingTuesday campaign. Keep an eye on the IRC Facebook and Twitter pages to not miss out on anything.

For other news about GivingTuesday you can check out both the global movement and the movement in the Netherlands. To keep up to date on all things #GivingTuesday in the Netherlands - which we are supporting with media activities, event management and more - you can also sign up for the #GivingTuesdayNL newsletter here.
