Course objectives: This course is designed to give you a foundational understanding of the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus within the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector and how by working together, we can achieve WASH resilience, sustainability and peace.

By the end of the course, you will have a thorough understanding of the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus within the WASH sector and the Joint Operational Framework (JOF) on WASH Resilience, Conflict Sensitivity and Peacebuilding.


After this course, you will know:

  • What the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus in WASH entails.
  • Why the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus is essential to achieving sustainable progress in WASH
  • The operational principles defined in the Joint Operational Framework (JOF) on WASH Resilience, Conflict Sensitivity and Peacebuilding.

Length: The estimated course duration is 2.5 hours. Each session has an average estimated duration of 60 minutes.

All content is based on the "Joint Operational Framework: WASH Resilience, Conflict Sensitivity and Peacebuilding". This operational framework aims to increase resilience by improving cooperation between actors within the nexus.
