Since 2010, the Triple-S Initiative in Uganda has been undertaking numerous activities to contribute towards the sustainable improvement of rural water services.
Triple-S, is an initiative of IRC which aims to pilot and test new ways of working for the delivery of rural water services in Uganda and to identify and understand the key challenges that confront the rural water sector. The initiative does this through a rigorous process of learning and research which involves the full range of stakeholders from the Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) to district water personnel, private operators, users, local politicians and opinion leaders.
In the year 2013/14, IRC Uganda scored some key successes through Triple-S, reflected in policy changes, adoption and scaling up of innovative approaches, and visible improvement in functionality of water facilities in the Triple-S pilot districts.
