The dataset provides access to the validated cost and service level information in each of the research areas. This data has been collated from a number of sources including infrastructure surveys, detailed household surveys and range of specific research undertaken with stakeholders in each country.

The country specific files and supporting information have been made available using the Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS) website.

Disclaimer: The data pertains to providing what was found to be very low levels of service. Data should not be used to calculate or extrapolate “ideal” service costs. The cost benchmarks for providing a basic level of service can be found in “Infosheet 2 - The cost of sustaining sanitation services for 20 years” and “Infosheet 3 - Funding recurrent costs for improved rural water services”.
